Happy 10th Anniversary RESIDENTS for a more beautiful SyossetRead about it in the Syosset-Jericho Tribune! http://www.antonnews.com/syossetjerichotribune/2008/04/18/news/ Thanks to many dedicated people, RESIDENTS for a more beautiful Syosset has grown from 7 people to over 400 families, advocating for Syosset beautification, pedestrian and vehicular safety, and downtown revitalization. With the assistance of Nassau County Legislator Judy Jacobs, RESIDENTS has been working closely with the Nassau County Department of Public Works on the redesign of Jackson Avenue. In addition to lobbying for a Jackson Avenue made safer for vehicles and pedestrians, RESIDENTS also seeks to preserve the trees along the road, as well as the RESIDENTS’ garden, which has become a community landmark and source of pride. If preservation of this greenery is not possible, then replacement is imperative. RESIDENTS is also lobbying for an additional traffic signal on Jackson Avenue, located between Teibrook Avenue and Jericho Turnpike. RESIDENTS’ next general membership meeting will take place on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at 8:00 PM at the VFW Hall, next to Syosset Post Office, on Queens Street in downtown Syosset. The meeting will feature Legislator Jacobs and a representative from the Nassau County Department of Public Works. The meeting is open to the general public. Bring your questions and concerns about the Jackson Avenue project. Free refreshments will be provided. RESIDENTS is holding its Annual Garden Clean Up and Flower Planting on Saturday, May 17, 2008.
